Co-Lin Metals is a full service, custom fabricating shop serving the greater Rockford and Chicagoland area for over 55 years. Our metal fabricating team has over 150 years of combined experience and is focused on a high level of quality with each project. No job is too small or too complicated. Our goal is to meet the needs of each customer and every project. Whether large or small, all orders are completed in a timely manner with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
As a specialty metal fabricating shop, our focus is on custom parts and weldments. We specialize in custom industrial cabinets, machine guards, custom weldments and stainless steel weldments. We work with a wide range of materials, from carbon and stainless steel, aluminum and virtually any other material the project requires. With the use of our custom fixturing table and highly skilled fabricators, we will get the job done.
Co-Lin Metals, located at 5295 28th Avenue in Rockford, Illinois, was founded in 1958. The Cottrell family owned and operated Co-Lin Metals until June of 2015, when Michael and Stephen Hedlund purchased it. This father and son team brings the knowledge and understanding that comes with years of experience, a college degree, and a passion to maintain the family approach to business.
As a teenager, Stephen spent summers working at Co-Lin alongside his father. His interest in all things mechanical, as well as a keen eye for project management, inspired him to pursue and attain a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His experiences, education and ambition guide him each day as he oversees the business side of Co-Lin in the office.

As a teenager, Mike began working for Larry Cottrell at Co-Lin. Now, over 35 years later, Mike has continued his career and expanded his fabricating experience along the way. As a co-owner of Co-Lin , Mike complements Stephen by utilizing that extensive experience to manage the shop floor with ease.
